- Teguh Joko Sutrisno
VIVA – The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono revealed that the Government canceled plans to increase ticket prices to go up to Borobudur Temple. So, currently the ticket entrance tariff to go up to Borobudur Temple remains at Rp50,000/person and Rp5,000 for students. However, visitor restrictions are still in place so tourists must register online.
According to Basuki, this is a direct direction from President Joko Widodo. Basuki said that although the rates did not increase, visitor restrictions were still in place and later tourists who wanted to go up to Borobudur Temple would be asked to register online.
"The quota to go up to the temple is limited, maybe 1,200. So, you have to register online 1200 (tourists)/day. This is all for sustainability," said Basuki, at the Jakarta Presidential Office on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
This total number of both domestic and international tourists. Therefore, visitors who plan to go up must register online.
He also said that later to climb the Borobudur Temple area, you must be accompanied by a tour guide or a registered guide. Visitors will be required to wear footwear which will be provided by the tourist attractions.
Borobudur temple is one of the wonders of the world, no wonder, so many visitors want to come to this tourism place. Unfortunately, for maintenance reasons, visitors should be limited to 1.200/day.
According to Basuki, the government's decision to limit the number of visitors was made by studying other tourist attractions such as Peru's Machu Picchu and the Egyptian Pyramids.
"Like Egypt, for example, Egypt has been banned altogether, you can't go up to the Pyramids. So, we also learned that the Coordinating Minister, Machu Picchu, said," said Basuki.
