Jokowi Conveys 6 Instructions for 2024 General Elections

VIVA – For the preparation of 2024 General Elections, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi conveys 6 instructions to the General Elections Commission or locally known as KPU during the meeting at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta on Monday, May 30, 2022.
KPU chairperson Hasyim Asy’ari told journalists after the meeting that the President gave his full support for the 2024 general elections.
According to Hasyim Asy’ari, President Joko Widodo fully supports the implementation of the 2024 Elections. President Jokowi also conveys 6 instructions to the KPU officials and among others.
Joko Widodo wants to ensure that the 2024 general and regional elections will be implemented right on the schedule on February 14, 2024. He also will order related ministers to give their full support to the KPU by providing financial support, personnel support, and logistics support.
After that, President Jokowi called on members of KPU both in central and regional governments to guard the elections and improve its quality and there are several indicators that must be achieved, including an increase in the number of voters, improvement in their quality of education and improvement in the quality of election governance in the KPU.
He also appealed to the KPU to be careful while preparing the technical aspects of the implementation of the election, such as the registration of voters, vote collection and recapitulation, as well as the stipulation of the results of the election.
Then, the President and KPU shared the opinion that the period of campaign rally must be shortened to 90 days to make the elections more efficient.
“We have agreed to allow the rally for 90 days. This will affect the procurement process, distribution of logistics such as ballots and forms,” Hayim Asy’ari said.
Joko Widodo will deploy all state apparatuses to support the smooth production and distribution of logistics to Polling Stations or locally known TPS. The President Joko Widodo also expressed hope that the KPU will use domestic products for election logistics.
“The President hoped logistics in the elections will use domestic products to accentuate the manifestation of regional elections of the people, by the people and for the people and to stimulate the economy,” Hasyim Asy’ari said.
During the meeting, the KPU also reported on the progress of holding general elections, especially in preparation for the 2024 General Elections, including those related to the election budget or funding, election facilities and infrastructure, and relations for election administration personnel.
