VIVA – After 21 years in the market, the giant of technology, United States, Apple has discontinued production of the music player otherwise known as the iPod. iPod was the first MP3 player capable of storing 1,000 songs and equipped with a battery life of up to 10 hours. This makes the iPod a good impact for the music industry.
Steve Jobs as the founder of Apple introduced the iPod in 2001. The existence of the iPod is also redefining how music is discovered, listened to, and shared.
In its new version, the iPod Touch, which was launched in 2007, hasn't been updated since 2019. Apple has confirmed that it will continue to sell the iPod Touch until supplies run out, as quoted from the Metro site, Monday, May 23, 2022.
In addition to the large storage capacity, the white EarPods in the box are also a symbol of the user's status, which is the same as when carrying the latest iPhone today.
The iPod continued to be produced through several versions of the device, including the iPod mini and iPod nano. This version turned out to also change the fate of Apple because its sales exceeded hundreds of millions of units worldwide.

Even so, the iPod is predicted to collapse. Many experts predict that portable music devices are unlikely to remain in production in the long term due to the rise of iPhones and Android smartphones that also have dedicated music players.
Greg Joswiak as Apple's Senior Vice President of Marketing said the iPod had redefined how music was invented. According to him, music has always been a core part of Apple and brought it to hundreds of millions of users.
He added that Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound quality with support for spatial audio.
"Until this day the spirit of the iPod lives on. We've integrated great music experiences into all of our products. From iPhone to Apple Watch, Home Pod mini and all Macs, iPads and even Apple TVs," said Greg.
The seventh generation iPod Touch which was released in 2019 is priced starting at $199 or Rp2.8 million for the 32GB variant and $399 or Rp5.7 million for the 25 6GB variant.
The device has a 4-inch screen with a slim and lightweight form. Then, at the bottom there is a home button, but unfortunately, it’s not accompanied by Apple's Touch ID technology. So, for the safety, users must use a six-digit passcode.
