Indonesians Rode Two Wheels to Hajj, Through 10 Countries

VIVA – Visit Mecca and perform the Hajj are definitely a desire for every Muslim. There are many ways to achieve this desire, such as performing the Pilgrimage using a motorbike. In Indonesia, there are some people who actually perform the Hajj by using a motorbike that are driven through Indonesia.
It because some of them have a hobby of touring and some want to go for Hajj but don't have enough money.
It’s estimated that going for Hajj by motorbike takes a very long time, ranging from 8 months to 12 months and passes through around 10 countries. But, with the intention to realize this desire, these people carry out the hajj with sincerity and patience.
So, here are 5 Indonesians who carry out the pilgrimage using motorbikes:
1. Lilik Gunawan and His Son, Jambi
Ever discussed by users of social media, a Jambi people managed to travel to Saudi Arabia by motorbike. He is Lilik Gunawan, 38 years old. It turned out that when carrying out this hajj, he also brought his son, Ahmad Balda, 4 years old.
On January 1, 2020, Lilik and his son passed around 10 countries with a distance of 453 kilometers and they took 8 months to travel from Indonesia to Arabia until they successfully completed their journey to perform Umrah.
They started their journey from Jambi, Indonesia and then made their way to the islands of Java and Kalimantan, crossing over to Brunei Darussalam to stop in Malaysia. From Kuala Lumpur, they then continued their journey to Bangkok, Thailand via the Bukit Kayu Hitam Border. After Thailand, they passed through Myanmar and then several other countries with a total of 10 countries.

2. Bambang Sukmana, Cimahi
Bambang Sukmana or usually called as Ibenk is a man from Cimahi, West Java who has had the intention since 2004 to perform the pilgrimage. Uniquely, he performs the hajj pilgrimage by using a motorcycle.
"Yes, but I only really matured and dared when a special incident happened at night, it was October 13, 2019," said Ibenk to Motorplus-online.
He also said that when he was opening his cellphone, suddenly an image of the Kaaba appeared on the screen.
"After that, I immediately made up my mind, and started looking for information and asking seniors who had been to Mecca on motorbikes," added Ibenk.
Ibenk, 44 years old has become the attention of many world bikers, especially in Indonesia.
3. Amir Faisal and Mintasih, Jember
A married couple, Amir Faisal and Mintasih, people of Kencong District, Jember, East Java are desperate to perform Umrah by used a motorbike and go to Mecca from Jember, Indonesia.
When leaving, this married couple said goodbye to their family and their whole family allowed it. They were desperate to use a motorbike because of the long wait to go for Umrah because of the limited quota for Hajj.
Prasatiya Amir Faisal's brother-in-law confirmed that Amir Faisal and his wife went to the holy land by motorbike.
"Currently both of them are in Jakarta to then go to Malaysia to continue to the sacred land of Mecca," he said.
4. Andy and Chairul, Gorontalo
Two youths from Gorontalo Province went to Saudi Arabia by bicycle on June 6, 2021. The departure of the two was carried out on Jalan Panjaitan, Gorontalo City. Not only did they depart, their expedition was also called the 'Muslim Youth Journey'.
These two young men are Andy Harvin Thalib, 26 years old and Chairul Ma'atini, 27 years old. Both of them have agreed to perform Umrah by bicycle when they graduate from college.
When they graduated, they also prepared everything for departure to Mecca. In the process of preparation, they are willing to sell their clothes and valuables. Based on information from both of them, they plan to pass through 7 countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Iran, to Saudi Arabia. The trip is estimated for a period of 1 year.
"Alhamdulillah, many people have provided to my two friends. In fact, some are from other areas," said Fahri, a close friend of the two youths.
5. Muhammad Fauzan, Magelang
Muhammad Fauzan, a young man from Secang, Magelang Regency has planned to get to Mecca by bicycle. The journey begins with the start of the Magelang City Square on Thursday, April 11, 2022 last morning.
The blue Federal-brand bike is full. There are four bags placed on the right, front and back. In the bag, in addition to containing a change of clothes, toiletries, bicycle parts, food, as well as ihram cloth and equipment for the pilgrimage.
Fauzan estimates that he can reach Mecca around June 2022 during the hajj season. But, if the time is delayed, then he will perform Umrah.
He has a Muhammadiyah organizational background. So, he will stop by at every office or institution affiliated with his organization.Â
