VIVA – When looking for a job, an interview is one of the steps that must be faced before being accepted or not by the company. To hire suitable candidates, every company conducts various rounds of interviews to measure the candidate’s ability and behavior.
So, the interview is an important stage, and could be one of the reasons human resources will hire you or not.
Usually, the human resources in every company have almost the same questions when conducting a job interview. Here’s the common list of HR interview questions and the answer tips for job seeker:
1. Tell About Yourself
First, before starting the question, the human resources will ask candidate job seekers to tell them about themselves. But in this part, don’t talk about yourself in detail from birth or how your family tree.
But tell about the educational background, what kind of work have you done, work experience, organizations you have joined and others. As much as possible avoid answering questions with answers that are too personal and relate the answers to things that relate to the job you are applying for.
2. What Are Your Greatest Strengths and Weaknesses?
In this strengths question, answer questions that affect the company's needs. For example, be responsible if you are a critical, focused, responsible, sociable person, problem solver and others.
In this weakness question, the candidates should be honest but don’t tell any weakness that can potentially jeopardize your candidature and don’t mention more than two weaknesses and always mention how you are working on improving them.
3. Why Are You Interested in Applying to This Company?
For this question, usually human resources are really curious about why you are interested in applying at the company. However, avoid answering related to salary, for example, or avoid answering because the company is big or even comparing with other companies.
It's a good step to answer it with things related to the company's business and yourself. For example, because the company fits your background, or because you are in line with the company's vision and mission.
4. Why Should We Hire You?
This question is actually a bit tricky; the candidates can answer honestly but don't be too arrogant or overestimate yourself. HR may think you are too arrogant.
Better answer by "selling yourself". For example, you will give your knowledge and experience to the company as much as possible or if you are accepted you will increase the percentage of company sales.
5. What Contribution that Can You Give to the Company?
Job seekers can answer this question according to your expertise or experience. Also tell HR about your previous work experience, what changes you could bring to the company, and the achievements and accomplishments you've had in previous companies.
For those who don’t have work experience, you should highlight the activities that have been carried out so far. In addition, tell us that you are willing to continue learning if you are accepted to work at the company.
