VIVA – The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy or the Tourism and Economy Agency shows and promotes a variety of creative economy products at 1st Tourism Working Group (TWG) 2022. This meeting is carried out online and it takes place at Sudamala Resort, Labuan Bajo, NTT on Tuesday night, May 10, 2022.
The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy or the Head of the Tourism and Economics Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno or known as Sandiaga Uno wore traditional clothes, Mandar Sureq Marasa Silk Weaving.
Sandiaga Uno wore the Mandar Sureq silk weaving when he opened the 1st Tourism Working Group online. This is a new weaving motif from West Sulawesi, which was the idea of ??the West Sulawesi Provincial Tourism Office.
This Sureq Marasa fabric consists of a combination of three Sureq such as Sekomandi Kalumpang, Sambuq Mamasa, and Saqbe Mandar. The purpose of Sureq Marasa was made as an effort to preserve and promote the three superior fabrics of West Sulawesi which are the heritage of their ancestors.
Sandiaga Uno said that Sureq Marasa fabric is one of the creative economy products that can improve the community's economy, especially craftsmen, the majority of whom are women from the coastal areas of West Sulawesi.
"The Sureq Marasa Silk Weaving is made by hand-made processes and woven with traditional tools which are entirely done by human power. So, they have a high selling value," said Sandiaga Uno as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
This meeting was also attended by the Chair of the Tourism Working Group, Frans Teguh and the Chairman Co of the Tourism Working Group, Iman Santosa. They both wore a typical Songkek scarf from Manggarai, West Nusa Tenggara.
Meanwhile, a scarf made of Songkek typical of Manggrai, East Nusa Tenggara is a woven fabric that must be worn during traditional events. Among the other things, during the feast or locally known as Penti, opening the field or locally known as Randang, to the time of deliberation or locally known as Nempung.
The motifs on the cloth used aren’t arbitrary. Each motif contains the meaning and hope of the Manggarai people in terms of the welfare of life, health, and relationships, both between humans and each other, humans with nature and with God.
Not only traditional clothes are presented, this online meeting of the 1st Tourism Working Group 2022 also presented a variety of processed culinary products typical of East Nusa Tenggara.
The Chairman of Tourism Working Group, Frans Teguh, said that these products include Bajawa Coffee from the Ngada area; Cinnamon Cocoa Walnuts, which is a culinary specialty of the Alor region; Juria Coffee which is a typical coffee of East Manggarai;Â
Not only that, but also the Pineapple Chilli Sauce or Pineapple Sambal which is a typical chili sauce from the Ende region; Sweet Cocoa Beans from Sikka; and Sweet Ginger Coconut Chips, which come from Nagekeo.
Frans hopes that the presentation of a variety of creative economy products at the 1st TWG 2022 in Labuan Bajo will allow the G20 delegates to get to know the diversity and uniqueness of Indonesian culture.
"We will display this culinary product at the 1st TWG 2022, which is expected to be known by delegates from the G20 countries as the uniqueness and richness of our nation's culture," said Frans.
