VIVA – Entering the return flow of homecoming travelers, the One-way system from KM 188 of the Cikopo-Palimanan (cipali) toll road to KM 72 of the Cikampek-Jakarta toll road has been implemented. This traffic engineering was carried out to decrease the density of traffic volume during the return flow of homecoming Eid al-Fitr.
The implements of one-way return flow homecoming starts around 9.30 PM.
Chief Commissioner Police of Cirebon, Arief Budiman said the one way implementation was carried out after going through the considerations of officers in the field. It can see that the volume of return flow is increasing significantly.
"We are coordinating with the Korlantas Indonesia Police Headquarters to carry out an implementation of a one way system starting from kilometer 188 Palimanan to kilometer 72 Cikampek," said Chief Commissioner Police, Arief Budiman.
According to Arief Budiman, the traffic flow from Central Java to the west has increased significantly. Based on updated data from Jasa Marga, for the flow that passes from east to west, the average is 3.500 vehicles/hour.
"This increase has happened approximately from 1 PM until tonight," said Arief.
The Police Chief or Kapolres is not clear how long the one-way traffic engineering on the Cipali toll road to the Cikampek toll road will be implemented yet. Officers will adjust the dynamics and developments of traffic in the field.
"The implementation of one way is dynamic. This means, it follows the current development from the Kalikangkung Toll Road in Central Java," he added
Previously, contra-flow traffic engineering was implemented on the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road, precisely at KM 157 to 147 and KM 132 to 129, according to the decision of the Police.
"Based on the police's decision, the contra-flow will be implemented starting at 5.50 PM at KM 157 to KM 147 and KM 132 to KM 129," said GM Operation Astra Toll Cipali, Suyitno in a statement received in Cirebon, Thursday, May 5, 2022.
He said that the implementation of the countercurrent was to reduce the density that occurred around the location, especially towards Jakarta.
"The countercurrent implementation for vehicles heading to Jakarta," he said.
He also added that the current return of vehicles passing on the Cipali toll road had shown an increase, compared to the previous day. In fact, temporary data on Thursday showed 35.890 vehicles passing the Palimanan Toll Gate from morning to afternoon.
"On D+2 Eid al-Fitr traffic flow was observed to be crowded in both directions," he said.
