The Peak of Eid al-Fitr Return Traffic Predicted on May 6-8

VIVA – The Traffic Corps or locally known as Korlantas give an appeal that the public could reconsider coming back home earlier to avoid the high peak of Eid al-Fitr return.
"We certainly urge all travelers of homecoming who will return back to home which need to be considered on May 6 until 8. Also, there will be a fairly high peak," the National Police Headquarters, Inspector General of Police Firman Santyabudi said.
This was said before the return of homecoming 2022 on Instagram @ntmc_polri on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. This appeal is helping the travelers come back to Jakarta early to avoid traffic jams.
In addition to coming back home early, Firman also suggested that if travelers still have days off, they can only back from their hometown after May 9, 2022.
"Therefore, maybe it can be considered after having celebrated Eid al-Fitr with family, it can also be used to go home earlier, if there is enough time for those on days off, they can use it to go home after May 9, 2022. Again, it’s only for the convenience of travelers homecoming," he added.
Firman made sure his team was ready to face the 2022 Eid return. He also asked the travelers to follow the traffic engineering policies of the Police so that the return trip was safe and smooth.
Previously, President Joko Widodo or known as Jokowi also appealed to the travelers who want to go back from their hometowns earlier and don’t do it on Saturday-Sunday. So, the travelers of homecoming would avoid traffic jams on toll roads, national roads and congestion at ports such as Merak-Bakauheni.
It was known that the homecoming of Eid al-Fitr this year was done by at least 85.5 million people. In addition, there are 23 million cars and 17 million motorcycles that are used to make homecoming trips this year.
Traffic jams had occurred on the toll road due to the one way. However, the journey of Eid al-Fitr in 2022 is relatively safe until the second day of Eid 2022.
