VIVA – PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) recorded the activity of travelers who want to go to their hometown at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, reaching 144,199 people from April 22 until April 30, 2022.
According to PT Angkasa Pura records, the peak of homecoming flow 2022 at Kualanamu Airport happens on April 29, 2022 or D-3 with the number of aircraft passenger movements reaching 19,500 people and the flight frequency of 115 flights on that day.
"This also makes the peak of homecoming flow come earlier on April 29, 2022, where previously we estimated it would be on April 30, 2022," said Executive General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II Kualanamu International Airport, Eri Braliantoro on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
He said that people had followed the government's recommendation to go home from the start or not close to Lebaran day. So, the distribution or distribution of homecoming trips went well.
For the period from April 22 to May 10 2022, Eri said, with the capacity of flight seats, PT Angkasa Pura II Kualanamu International Airport received 190 requests for extra flights from various airlines. Extra flights to accommodate the high demand for prospective passengers during the Lebaran homecoming period.
Meanwhile, the top five destinations, especially the homecoming flow from April 22 to April 29 from Kualanamu Airport, are CGK, BTH, YIA, BDO, and KUL.
Eri said the smooth flow of Eid al-Fitr homecoming at Kualanamu Airport was supported by close collaboration between stakeholders, including travelers who planned their trip from the beginning or were not close to Eid al-Fitr day.
There are three advantages of air transportation that can help make it easier for travelers to travel back to their hometowns, to celebrate Eid with their families in their hometown.
The first advantage of air transportation in fulfilling the high demand is flexibility. Prospective passengers can choose the date and time of departure as well as the airline that suits their needs.
"If the departure date and time are not available, then another time allocation can be chosen," he said.
The second advantage of air transportation has a capacity that can be adjusted according to demand. If the demand is high, PT Angkasa Pura II as the airport operator will coordinate with airlines and ground handling and other related parties to increase flight seat capacity through the extra flight mechanism (additional flights), flight time slot arrangements, extension of airport operating hours, and others.
Then, the third advantage of air transportation is the breadth of flight connectivity. Air transportation connects every province in Indonesia.
"Through the air route, we can travel from one city to another in a short time. In an archipelagic country like Indonesia, air transportation is the most efficient and effective mode," he said.
PT Angkasa Pura II also urges the public to take advantage of the option of using air transportation during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period, and of course also during the return flow.
