Not Solo, President Jokowi Celebrates Eid al-Fitr in Yogyakarta

VIVA – President Joko Widodo or President Jokowi has announced that he will participate in Eid al-Fitr 1443 H homecoming or known as mudik this year.
As we know, President Joko Widodo has a hometown in Solo and he was born there. But, in this time, President Jokowi is not going to Solo, his hometown but he will go to Yogyakarta for celebrate Eid-al Fitr 2022.
“I will not go to Solo, (but) to Yogyakarta,” said President Jokowi
He said it after reviewing the Formula E Circuit, in Jakarta, Monday, April 25, 2022.
President Jokowi did not specify how many days he would stay in Yogyakarta and why choosing to go to Yogyakarta than his hometown, Solo.
As we know too, for two years, Jokowi has carried out Eid at the Bogor Palace, West Java with strict health protocols due to the pandemic of COVID-19 that has hit the republic of Indonesia.
President Jokowi said that he would perform Eid prayers in Yogyakarta. However, the President confirmed that he would not host an open house during the Eid al-Fitr Celebration. President Jokowi reminds the officials not host an open house too, because it can cause a crowd.
“As I have mentioned, the Government calls on (the public) not to organize open houses, especially for officials, since it would involve crowds of people,” he said.
On that occasion, the Head of State also stated that the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country has continued to improve so the Government allows the people to mudik after 2 years be forbidden. However, the President reminded there is a transition period that must be handled carefully before the pandemic is declared as endemic.
“Indeed, we allow the people to mudik since the daily case numbers are already very low and the active cases are already below 20,000. It is really low. However, we must remain vigilant for there is a transition period,” he remarked.
