VIVA – Elon Musk has officially bought Twitter for IDR 634 trillion (US$44 billion/US$54.2/share). The founder of SpaceX and Tesla promised to give more control of content on social media with the blue bird logo. He also promotes his interest in free speech and criticism on various issues on the platform.
This price is the same as Elon Musk mentioned in the initial offer to buy Twitter shares on April 14th yesterday, as quoted from the CBS News website, Tuesday, April 26th, 2022. After completing the transaction, Twitter also officially became a private company.
Actually, this good news happened one hour before Elon Musk had a meeting with the Chairman of the Advisory Board of Kadin, Anindya Bakrie at GigaFactory Texas, United States (US).
Anindya Bakrie and Indonesian Ambassador to the US Rosan Perkasa Roeslani accompanied the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to discuss investment in Indonesia.
Anindya Bakrie also expressed Elon Musk's face full of joy through his Instagram account, @anindyabakrie.
At that time, he saw Elon Musk's mood was good because his plan to acquire Twitter was accepted by the platform company's board. "No wonder he's in a good mood and nice," he said.
Meanwhile, Pandu Sjahrir, who was also in the group, said the same thing as stated in the Instagram stories. "One hour after that meeting! I guess we brought good luck," said the Commissioner of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).
Wall Street analysts believe the deal will be announced before Twitter reports the first-quarter financial results this year.
After Elon Musk revealed that he bought Twitter shares and proposed buying it outright, the company's board adopted an untakeover measure designed to deflect a hostile offer.
But then, they decided to negotiate after Elon Musk updated his proposal.
He said about the document filed with US securities regulators that the money to buy Twitter came from Morgan Stanley and other major banking giants, some of which were guaranteed by a large stake in Tesla.
