VIVA.co.id – Dwayne 'The Rock' Johson telah mengkonfirmasi bahwa film Jumanji bukan remake tahun 1995. Ia memberikan informasi tersebut pada akun Instagram pada Jumat 19 Agustus. Aktor tersebut juga menjelaskan bahwa film Jumanji merupakan kelanjutan dari film sebelumnya.

Dalam keterangannya ia menulis, "dan sekarang dalam dua minggu saya akan bergabung kembali dengan teman-teman ol' Kevin Hart & Jack Black dan kami mendapat kehormatan untuk memperkenalkan generasi baru ke dunia menajubkan #JUMANJI. "Sebagai catatan, kami tidak akan membuat reboot, tapi kelanjutan cerita dari JUMANJI."

Mantan pegulat profesional ini juga mengatakan antusiasmenya untuk membintangi film barunya bersama. "Ini sangat menajubkan, Kev dan Jack terlihat seperti kembar tiga saat kita kembali bersama-sama. Hal ini akan sangat menyenangkan."

Dilansir laman Ace Showbiz, film ini akan disutradarai oleh Jake Kasdan dan Dwayne Johnson akan berlaga bersama Nick Jonas. Sedangkan skenario film dibuat oleh Zach Helm, Chris McKenna, Jeff Pinker, Scott Rosenberg, dan Erik Sommers.

Film Jumanji akan diproduksi oleh Matt Tolmach, William Teitler dan Ted Field dengan Mike Weber dan Van Allsburg sebagai eksekutif produser. Film ini dijadwalkan untuk keluar di bioskop Amerika Serikat pada 28 Juli 2017.
