VIVAnews – Indonesian Presidential spokesman, Julian Aldrin Pasha, said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has made contact with the Russian President Vladimir Putin about the aviation accident involving a Sukhoi Superjet-100 that crashed onto a slope of Mount Salak, Bogor. Indonesia and Russia have agreed to team up in looking into the case.
Julian pointed out that in the discussion between the two nations' leaders, Russia offered a forensic identification process of the victims.
“The President and the Indonesian Police, especially Disaster Victim Identification, have accepted the offer. They will tie up well with the Russians,” said Julian at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, on Friday.
“President Putin is very concerned about this. There is no impression of a cover-up. Everything is transparent. The Police’s DVI Team and Russia will identify [the victims by adopting] international procedures,” said Julian.
The Indonesian team that will be deployed to conduct investigation of this tragedy, said Julian, is under the supervision of the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) of the Ministry of Transportation.
“The disclosure of the cause of incident is in the hands of KNKT officials,” said Julian.
So far, the cause of the accident is still unknown.
“Whatever it was that had happened, Putin expressed his condolences to the families of the SSJ100 victims,” said Julian.
