Jakarta, VIVA – Donald Trump recently announced intentions to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the ‘Gulf of America.’ He made these remarks during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago.

The discussion also included criticisms of Mexico, potential tariffs on neighboring countries and other global strategies.

At a press conference, Trump stated his intention to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America.”

He suggested the new name reflects U.S. efforts in the region.

Trump described the name change as “appropriate,” stating it would be announced officially at a later date.

He criticized Mexico, calling it a “dangerous place” and expressing concerns about immigration into the U.S. He stated that millions of people were entering the country illegally and suggested this must stop.

He also mentioned that drugs were coming into the U.S. at “record numbers” through Mexico and Canada, without offering evidence.

Trump reiterated his stance on imposing tariffs on Mexico and Canada. He claimed both countries were contributing to issues like illegal immigration and drug trafficking. He did not provide specific figures or evidence during the speech.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has not issued a public statement about the proposed name change or tariff threats.

However, Trump mentioned previous discussions about tariffs, as quoted from the economic times site.

Trump also hinted at broader territorial interests. When asked about using military force to retake the Panama Canal or acquiring Greenland, he refused to rule out the possibility.

He accused Panama of charging excessive fees for American vessels using the canal.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., is visiting Greenland to explore U.S. interests there. The visit follows Trump’s statement about Greenland’s alignment with his political movement, “MAGA".
