Four Samsung Models to Lose WhatsApp Support in 2025

Jakarta, VIVA – As of January 1, 2025, WhatsApp will no longer be supported on four Samsung smartphone models: the Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Ace 3, and Galaxy S4 Mini.

These devices, running on the outdated Android KitKat operating system, cannot meet the evolving requirements of the messaging app, as quoted from GSM Arena site.

WhatsApp's decision to discontinue support for these older devices is driven by the need to accommodate new features and functionalities, such as AI integration, which demand more advanced hardware.

Other affected smartphone models included:

• Motorola: Moto G (1st Gen), Razr HD, Moto E 2014

• HTC: One X, One X+, Desire 500, Desire 601

• LG: Optimus G, Nexus 4, G2 Mini, L90

• Sony: Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia T, Xperia V

Similarly, Apple devices running iOS versions older than 15.1 will no longer support WhatsApp as of a certain date in May 2025.
