Jakarta, VIVA – The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail (KCIC) has officially announced that the Whoosh Karawang Station will begin serving passenger departures and arrivals starting December 24, 2024.
Travelers can start booking tickets as early as Sunday, December 22, through various online and offline ticketing channels.
"The opening of services at Karawang Station is a significant milestone ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays, as it offers more mobility options for the public," said Eva Chairunnisa, General Manager of Corporate Secretary KCIC, in a written statement from Jakarta.
With this new addition, KCIC aims to meet the travel demands of passengers who prioritize speed, comfort, and safety.
For those planning to book tickets to or from Karawang Station, KCIC offers multiple booking options.
Tickets can be purchased via the official Whoosh app, the ticket.co.id website, and partner apps such as Access by KAI, Livin by Mandiri, Brimo, BNI Mobile, and tiket.com. Offline ticket purchases are also available at station counters and through Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).
"We are implementing a dynamic pricing system to ensure that Whoosh high-speed rail travel remains affordable for everyone," Chairunnisa added.
Additionally, passengers booking tickets for routes such as Karawang-Padalarang or Tegalluar-Summarecon will have access to feeder trains connecting Padalarang Station with Bandung and Cimahi Stations at no additional cost.
The Halim-Karawang route can be covered in just 15 minutes, while the Karawang-Padalarang trip takes approximately 20 minutes.
KCIC has allocated a 2-minute stop for passenger boarding and alighting at Karawang Station, so passengers are advised to prepare before the train arrives.
In total, the addition of services at Karawang Station will extend the overall travel time by 7 minutes.
During the Christmas and New Year holiday period (Nataru), KCIC plans to operate a total of 48 daily Whoosh high-speed rail trips.
