Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has instructed all television stations to broadcast the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, simultaneously every day at 6 AM Western Indonesia Time.
This policy aims to synchronize the airing time of the national anthem, which has varied across different television stations.
Deputy Minister of Digital Communication, Angga Raka Prabowo, stated that this policy is inspired by similar practices on radio.
“On the radio, we often hear the national anthem around 6 AM. For television, we hope it can also be aired simultaneously at 6 AM. Currently, some stations broadcast it as early as 5 am, 4 am, or even 3 am. Going forward, we hope for uniformity at 6 AM,” Prabowo said on Wednesday (Dec 18).
In addition to regulating the broadcast of the national anthem, Prabowo added that the head of state has also issued directives to improve the quality of morning television programs.
“The President has emphasized that morning programs, or those aired during hours when many children are watching, should be more informative, educational, and inspiring,” he remarked.
This directive aims to ensure that prime-time television content supports the development of children through educational and motivational programming.
Furthermore, Prabowo stressed the importance of ensuring that broadcast content aligns with the age-appropriateness of its viewers.
“We must ensure that our children are not exposed to programs unsuitable for their age. This is essential to safeguarding the future generations of Indonesia,” he added.
The message underscores the responsibility of broadcasting institutions to protect children from inappropriate content and to nurture a better generation for the nation’s future.
