Jakarta, VIVA – The Ministry of Trade ensures the availability and price stability of cooking oil, including Minyakita, during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays.

"We aim to prepare for the increased demand for cooking oil typically seen during Christmas, New Year, and Eid celebrations when needs significantly rise," said Budi Santoso, the Minister of Trade, in Jakarta on Thursday (Nov 28).

The Minister stated that the price of Minyakita remains relatively stable, although some areas in eastern Indonesia have seen prices exceeding the government-set ceiling price (HET) of IDR 15,700 per liter.

"Certain regions are experiencing increased demand. To address this, we will ensure sufficient supply to stabilize prices during the Nataru period," he explained.

In addition, Minister Santoso stated that his ministry, along with the Food Task Force and the Department of Industry and Trade, is monitoring areas facing supply shortages to guarantee the availability of cooking oil.

"The holidays season will be safe, as there is currently no significant price surge. However, we must anticipate potential challenges. Each year, during Christmas and New Year, we conduct meetings to control prices," he stated.

Regarding other staple foods, Minister Santoso also assured their availability during the holidays period.
