In his opening speech, President Lula da Silva highlighted global social inequality, noting that 733 million people were undernourished in 2024 despite the world producing nearly 6 billion tons of food annually.

"Hunger is the biological expression of a social disease," the President stated, quoting Brazilian scientist Josué de Castro.

He further emphasized that the alliance aims to develop international recommendations, effective public policies, and sustainable funding sources.

The alliance has already garnered support from 81 countries, 26 international organizations, 9 financial institutions, as well as numerous foundations and non-governmental organizations.

"This alliance was born at the G20, but its goals are global," President Lula remarked.

The launch of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty marked a significant milestone at the G20 Summit, reaffirming a collective commitment to building a more equitable and prosperous world.

President Prabowo's participation in this forum reflects Indonesia's active role in addressing global challenges and advocating for a more inclusive future.
