Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs has provided logistical assistance to flash flood survivors in Sukabumi. The aid was delivered to help alleviate the burden on residents affected by this natural disaster.

The relief supplies were sent on Wednesday, November 6, from the Sentra Phalamarta Sukabumi logistics warehouse and the Sukabumi City Social Service, following the flash flood that occurred on Tuesday.

“We have mobilized the nearest Social Ministry center from the disaster area, namely Sentra Phala Martha Sukabumi and the Sukabumi City Social Service, to distribute essential logistical aid to flood and landslide victims,” said Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf in a  statement on Thursday (Nov 7).

He assured that the ministry would continue data collection and assessments for further assistance, particularly for housing damage caused by the flood.

“The Ministry of Social Affairs will await recommendations from the Social Service for BBR (Housing Material Assistance) for heavily damaged houses,” he added.

It was reported that 65 people from 16 families, all from the Cikondang subdistrict, initially took shelter. However, residents have since returned to their homes to carry out light cleaning independently.
