Indonesia, Germany Strengthen Efforts to Enhance Human Resources

Jakarta, VIVA – The joint organization of Indonesian-German Alumni (ALJERIN) was officially declared in Jakarta on Saturday (Oct 12).

The organization is committed to collaborating with various parties, especially the government, in advancing Indonesia, including in the economic sector.

"ALJERIN was established with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Germany and creating collaboration in various fields such as education, business, technology, and arts," said Benny Soetrisno, who was unanimously appointed as the Chairman of ALJERIN.

The organization consists of alumni from various German institutions, including the 1976 graduates of the Electrical Engineering Department of RWTH Aachen, Germany.

It also serves as a platform for cross-alumni integration, both individually and across other existing alumni in organizations/communities.

Soetrisno emphasized that ALJERIN is determined to improve the quality of Indonesia’s human resources through the transfer of knowledge and technology acquired by alumni in Germany.

"ALJERIN also aims to expand international cooperation, especially between Indonesia and Germany, in various strategic sectors such as education, research, and industry," he added.

Meanwhile, Henry Siahaan, another ALJERIN declarator, mentioned that through ALJERIN, they hope to play a significant role in addressing the de-industrialization Indonesia has experienced over the past few decades.

"This includes the development of green technology and renewable energy, as solutions to tackle increasingly complex global challenges," Siahaan remarked.

Currently, according to him, there are an estimated 200,000 German alumni worldwide, with the majority residing in Indonesia.
