Jokowi Aims for Balikpapan-IKN Toll Road Completion by Mid-2025
- Sekretariat Presiden
Jakarta, VIVA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has set a target for the completion of the Balang Island Toll Road, which connects the city of Balikpapan to the new capital city (IKN), Nusantara, in East Kalimantan, by mid-2025.
The head of state feels confident that the existence of this toll road will boost the ecosystem in IKN.
"From Balikpapan to the Balang Island Bridge, and from Balang Island to Nusantara, the road is expected to be completed by mid-2025. It will bring more activity," President Jokowi said during the inauguration of Hotel Nusantara in East Kalimantan on Friday (Sept 13).
President Jokowi then emphasized that the toll road will eventually connect the city of Samarinda to IKN.
He hopes that once the toll road is completed, it will enhance the mobility of the people in IKN.
"This increase in activity will further energize our capital city," he stated.
Additionally, the IKN Airport will also contribute to the city's vibrancy.
However, for now, the Presidential aircraft is not yet able to land at the airport.
"Yesterday, I actually wanted to land at the new airport, but it wasn't feasible yet. We need to try again with the same aircraft we're using," the president concluded.
