Prabowo Subianto Shows Commitment to Tackle Corruption

Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) considers President-elect Prabowo Subianto's statement regarding the increase in anti-corruption funding as a sign of his commitment in tackling corruption in the country.

"We saw this statement as a serious intention on his part to create a better Indonesia, free from corruption. KPK hopes that Prabowo Subianto has a strong commitment to eradicating corruption during his leadership," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Sugiarto stated that the KPK is ready to appreciate the statement, while emphasizing that the KPK will maintain its independence and will not discriminate in its fight against corruption.

He also urged all members of society to monitor the KPK's work in combating corruption and to remain open to suggestions and criticism from the public to help build a stronger KPK.

"The KPK will always be independent in fighting corruption, and we also ask all elements of society to support and monitor the KPK in its journey. The activities carried out by the KPK are for the benefit of the Indonesian people," she remarked.

Sugiarto revealed that the KPK will soon undergo a leadership change, and she is confident that the entire Indonesian public hopes for the election of leaders who share Prabowo's commitment to eradicating corruption.

"We hope that leaders will be elected who hold the same commitment as just expressed, so that the fight against corruption can advance and improve," she stated.

Earlier, President-elect Prabowo Subianto, during the closing of the Gerindra Party's National Leadership Meeting in Jakarta, reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption.

One of the points he raised was the provision of special funding for law enforcement agencies to pursue and apprehend perpetrators of corruption.
