Jakarta – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), during a state visit last Tuesday (July 16).
In this meeting, President Jokowi highlighted two main issues that were the focus of enhancing bilateral cooperation, in addition to other important matters.
“We only discussed two important things with the UAE, even though there are many others,” President Jokowi said in Bandung, some time ago.
Firstly, the meeting with President MBZ addressed the development of a financial center in the new capital city, Nusantara, East Kalimantan.
The Head of State said that the government wants to learn from the system at the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC).
“This means that we hope the financial center in IKN will be established soon and operational as quickly as possible,"
Additionally, the meeting also discussed cooperation in the nickel sector, encompassing the entire value chain from upstream to downstream, including mining, cathode and precursor production, electric vehicle battery manufacturing, and the electric vehicles themselves.
