Green Economy Transformation Focuses on Social Welfare and Sustainability

Jakarta – For the first time, the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) is hosting the Green Economy Expo: Advancing Technology, Innovation, and Circularity from July 3-5, 2024, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta.
The event aims to bring together various strategic stakeholders to achieve an inclusive and sustainable Indonesian economy through a Green Economy.
"Essentially, the transformation towards a Green Economy focuses on creating more sustainable investments, capital and infrastructure, jobs, and skills," said Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa during the event's opening on Wednesday (July 3).
Minister Monoarfa stated that the green economy transformation aims to achieve social welfare and environmental sustainability.
The Green Economy Transformation is a form of the Indonesian Government's commitment to realizing the Vision of Indonesia 2045 to become a Sovereign, Advanced, and Sustainable Nusantara Nation, considering the conservation of natural resources and the environment in Indonesia's development.
The minister said that the green economy will drive the transition towards sustainable growth, implemented through the transition to renewable energy.
Additionally, through the application of a circular economy and bioeconomy, sustainable forest management, and the enhancement of green labor.
On this occasion, Minister Monoarfa also launched the Roadmap and National Action Plan for the Indonesian Circular Economy and the Roadmap for Food Loss and Waste Management documents as references for all stakeholders in implementing Circular Economy policies in Indonesia.
"If seriously implemented in five priority sectors (food, electronics, plastic packaging, construction, and textiles), circular economy policies have the potential to benefit our development significantly," he concluded.
