Minister Sumadi Inaugurates Jatake Station Construction in Tangerang

Tangerang – Indonesian Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi inaugurated the construction of the new Jatake Station in Tangerang Regency on Saturday.

The inauguration of the Tanah Abang-Maja and Tanah Abang-Parung Panjang station routes, located between the Cicayur and Parung Panjang commuter line stations or stops.

Minister Sumadi stated that the station, designed with a commercial concept, is expected not only to enhance public transportation connectivity for the community but also to generate additional income for transportation operators, Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI).

"With the addition of this station, we aim to ensure connectivity nationwide by encouraging the shift from private to public transportation. Furthermore, since this station operates on a commercial basis, it provides other income for KAI," Minister Sumadi explained.

The Minister also emphasized the necessity of collaboration between the government and the private sector to expedite the construction process.

"The government also facilitates to ensure that development can be evenly distributed and achieved quickly," he added.

Meanwhile, Syukur Lawigena, Director of Bumi Serpong Damai stated that the construction of the station, a collaboration between Sinar Mas Land through BSD and KAI, began in January 2024 with an area of 2,453 square meters.

"The construction of this station started in early 2024, and it is planned to be operational in 2025. The station is capable of accommodating 20,000 passengers per day," Lawigena informed.

The station building, costing around IDR 100 billion, is designed to be environmentally friendly, incorporating green building instruments. Additionally, it features solar panels to enhance energy efficiency.

"This station isn't only operating on a commercial basis but also prioritizes environmental friendliness in terms of its structure. Its presence addresses the needs of the community and the demand for mass transportation for daily mobility, connecting Jakarta and Banten through KRL services," he concluded.
