Jakarta – The Indonesian Aquatic on Saturday officially changed its name to the Aquatics Federation of Indonesia. This change was ratified during a Special Deliberation or Munasus attended by 30 Provincial Administrators from across Indonesia at the Four Points Hotel, Jakarta.
Earlier, the PB PRSI (Central Board of the Indonesian Swimming Association) changed its name Indonesian Aquatics on Last August during the 2023 Munasus in Jakarta.
At the 2024 Munasus, it was officially expanded to become the Aquatic Federation of Indonesia.
"Based on the guidance from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the name was amended from Indonesian Aquatic to the Aquatics Federation of Indonesia," the Chairman of Indonesian Aquatic, Anindya Novyan Bakrie stated.
This name change because Indonesian Aquatic oversees five branches of aquatic sports: swimming, water polo, diving, artistic swimming, and open water swimming.
In addition to holding the Munasus, Indonesian Aquatic also conducted a National Work Meeting 2024 (Rakernas) with the theme "Success of PON XXI/2024 Towards World Achievements."
During the Rakernas, they evaluated programs throughout the year 2023 and devised a roadmap for aquatics towards global achievement.
The 2024 PON is scheduled to take place from September 8-20 in two provinces, Aceh and North Sumatra.
As information, Anindya Bakrie, the Chairman of Indonesian Aquatic was also appointed as the Chef de Mission for the Indonesian Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"Indonesia has already qualified seven athletes for the Paris Olympics, and hopefully, there will also be swimmers who can qualify for the Olympics," Bakrie concluded.
