Indonesian Weightlifter Secures Gold Medal in Thailand

Thailand – The weightlifting sport contributed two gold for the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 World Abilitysport Games (WAG) held in Thailand, as well as being the 12th gold piece for the Nation troops.

Para weightlifting athlete Abdul Hadi who dropped in the men's 49 Kg won gold after collecting a total force of 325 Kg. 

As quoted from the official statement of the Indonesian Paralympic Committee (NPC), Thursday, Hadi successfully lifted a weight of 160 kg which was the heaviest weight among other participants for the first batch.

However, Hadi failed in the second force attempt weighing 165 Kg.

In the third batch, the athlete from West Kalimantan finally managed to complete his task. He managed to lift a barbell weighing 165 Kg so that he accumulated a total force of 325 Kg which was the highest total force among all participants.

The gold medal for Indonesia from the weightlifting sport was also presented by Margono who dropped in the men's 65 Kg number. Margono performed nicely by recording the best total force. 

The athlete from Central Java successfully executed three forces. In the first force, Margono was able to lift a weight of 158 kg followed by a second force weighing 161 kg, and succeeded in the third force weighing 165 kg. 

The success of lifting three forces cleanly led Margono to win the gold medal. The result was the 12th gold for the Red and White contingent at WAG 2023. 

Indonesia's gold medal at the World Abilitysport Games 2023 Thailand was also donated by para swimming athlete Jendi Pangabean who won two golds. 

Para cycling athletes Sufyan Saori, Muhammad Fadli Immamuddin, and Tifan Abid Alana also contributed one gold each. 

In para shooting, Hanik Puji Hastuti also won her first gold medal at an international event.
