FIFA Confirms Saudi Arabia to Host 2034 World Cup

Jakarta – The World Football Federation, FIFA officially appointed Saudi Arabia as the host of the 2034 World Cup. This was conveyed by the FIFA President, Gianni Infantino.

Gianni Infantino explained that the next editions of the World Cup in 2026, 2030 and 2034 will be held on five continents and 10 countries.

The 2026 World Cup will be held in North America involving three countries namely Canada, Mexico and the United States.

While the 2030 World Cup will be played by Morocco, Portugal and Spain with three matches to be played in South America namely Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Meanwhile, the 2034 World Cup will be held on the Asian Continent or more precisely Saudi Arabia which has been officially appointed as the host of the once every four years event.

"The world cup will be organised by Canada, Mexico, and the United States in 2026 – in North America. The next two editions of the FIFA World Cup are set to be hosted in Africa (Morocco) and Europe (Portugal and Spain) – with three celebratory matches played in South America (Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay) in 2030 and in Asia (Saudi Arabia) in 2034," wrote Infantino through his official Instagram on Tuesday.

This will be the third time the World Cup will be held on the Asian continent, after Korea-Japan in 2002 and Qatar in 2022. Saudi Arabia has now been officially appointed as the host of the 2034 World Cup after Australia withdrew. 

"Football unites the world like no other sport, and the FIFA World Cup is the perfect showcase for a message of unity and inclusion, as well as providing an important illustration of how different cultures can be together and can learn and better understand one another," Infantino concluded.
