Jakarta – Threads recently has introduced several new features in an attempt to take on Elon Musk's X, formerly Twitter and create a public space for community. Well, there are several features in Threads that are similar to X.

Threads now adds the ability to view views, create polls, create GIFs, view post views, and add pinned posts to a user's profile.

While X has had many of these features for a long time, social media app Meta seems to be taking a cue by bringing users' favorite features into its app.

Threads and Instagram boss Adam Mosseri announced the launch of GIFs and polls for all users on the app last week.

Users can create a poll by tapping the bottom right corner when creating a post, adding up to 4 options; the poll will be open for 24 hours, and Threads will send a notification to all voters when the poll closes.

Meanwhile, GIFs can be added to posts by tapping on the GIF icon and selecting the desired GIF. For now, only one GIF can be added per post.

The X rival is also testing two new features, namely view counts and pinned posts. While view counts were introduced on X late last year, shortly after Elon Musk took over the company, pinned posts have been a long-standing feature on the app.

Mosseri when revealing that Threads was testing these two new features wrote, "New testing on Threads!" he wrote on his account.

"First, we're testing a way to display the number of views on a post in Threads, to see if this is a useful measure to understand if the post is right for your community. Second, we're testing how you can pin a post to your profile, or pin a reply to your post, tap "pin to profile" or "pin reply" in the 3-dot menu. Both of these trials are now running for a small number of people," he wrote.

Mosseri also expressed his admiration for the view count feature, writing, "View count is very interesting because I think if we launched Instagram, or Facebook, today, we would probably have it. It gives people a better understanding of their reach, and generally more feedback is a good thing."
