Whoosh Fast Train Passengers Reach 11,000 in a Day

Jakarta – The Whoosh fast train recorded the highest number of passengers since its operation on October 17, 2023. It reached 11,329 passengers in a day, exactly on Saturday. 

Kereta Cepat Indonesia China or KCIC's General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said the average of train occupancy rate (TOR) of the Whoosh fast train on October 21, 2023, was recorded at 86 percent. 

"Some of the train occupancy rates reached more than 95 percent for certain routes and schedules,"  Chairunisa said in a statement on Sunday.

The travel schedule with an occupancy rate above 95 percent was the Halim Station-Tegalluar Station at 4.45 PM local time and departures from Tegalluar Station and Padalarang Station at 4.45 PM local time.

Chairunisa also explained: "While schedules with the TOR above 90 percent were trips from Halim Station at 06.40 AM, 07.30 AM, 08.45 AM, 09.45 AM, and 10.20 AM local times and trips from Tegalluar Station and Padalarang Station at 3.35 PM and 5.35 PM local times,"

The increasing number of Whoosh passengers showed people's high enthusiasm for boarding the fast train, she continued. 

To anticipate the increasing number of bookings, KCIC has planned to add more trips to accommodate the demand.

Based on ticket sales data, KCIC record that the number of passengers on Sunday was also still high, with 10,968 passengers had booked the tickets to various routes with average occupancy reaching 83 percent and some trips reaching 96 percent.

With this high level of public interest in the Whoosh fast train, Chairunisa ensured that her party would prepare and improve services for passengers starting from the stations' waiting rooms, counters, commercial areas, and during trip.

KCIC will also continue to coordinate with the state-run railway company, KAI, and other stakeholders to integrate transportation modes for passengers continuing their trips from Cimahi, Bandung, and other destinations.

"We appreciate and express our gratitude for the high demand in the Whoosh fast train. We hope that it can continue to be the number one choice to travel from Jakarta to Bandung and vice versa," Chairunisa remarked.
