Over 100,000 Spectators at MotoGP Mandalika This Year

Lombok – More than 100,000 people have watched the MotoGP Mandalika on October 13-15, 2023. This was revealed by the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Tourism Service on Monday. 

"The number of spectators for the MotoGP Mandalika series this weekend reached 102,929 people," Head of the NTB Tourism Service, Jamaluddin Malady revealed in Mataram, on Monday.

Malady stated that the number was higher as compared to the MotoGP Mandalika spectators in 2022 reaching 102,801 people. 

"The number of spectators this year is more than last year, which increased by 128 people. In last year, there were only 102,801 people," he informed.

The organizers provided 69,000 tickets from all seating categories, including premier VIP, deluxe VIP, premium grand stand, regular grand stand, and festival.

Previously, state-owned airport operator, Angkasa Pura I (AP I) in Lombok Airport reported that it had served at least 31 thousand passengers during the Mandalika MotoGP period on October 11-14, with an increase of 20 percent in the number of passengers as compared to the figure in the previous week.

"In detail, there were 18,700 passengers arriving and 12,500 passengers departing from Lombok Airport during the October 11-14 period," General Manager of AP I Lombok Airport Rahmat Adil Indrawan remarked.

On average, during that period, the number of passengers was recorded at 7,800 people per day, or an increase of 20 percent as compared to the daily average of around 6,500 passengers per day, Indrawan said. 

He continued: "During the same period, Lombok Airport also served 333 aircraft movements, with 169 arriving aircraft movements and 164 departing aircraft movements, or an average of 83 aircraft movements per day,"

"Aircraft movements also increased by 20 percent as compared to previous days, with an average of 69 aircraft movements per day. The MotoGP Mandalika series had a significant impact on flight activities at Lombok Airport,"

According to him, the peak in spectators' arrival during the race occurred on Friday, October 13, with 5,300 passengers arriving at Lombok Airport.

Moreover, Indrawan also stated that 80 additional flights were requested by national and international airlines on October 10-17 comprising 42 flights from Garuda Indonesia, 22 flights from Citilink, six flights from Indonesia AirAsia, four flights from Super Air Jet, and respectively two flights from Wings Air, Lion Air, and Malaysia Airlines.
