ASKI Sends 23 Karateka to KWF World Championships in Tokyo

Tokyo, 9 Oktober 2023 – The Indonesian Karate-Do Martial Arts Academy (ASKI) sent 23 karateka to the Karatenomichi World Federation (KWF) World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, on October 9-15, 2023. The event is part of the 10th KWF World Conference, which will run for seven days.
ASKI Grand Master Marisi Zainuddin Sihotang said that the sending of the contingent is an effort by ASKI to improve the competence and performance of Indonesian karateka in the international arena.
"This is a very important moment for ASKI. We want to give Indonesian karateka the opportunity to compete with the best karateka from all over the world," Marisi said in a statement.
The ASKI contingent consists of various categories, from Kyokushin Karate, Goju-Ryu Karate, and Shotokan Karate. The karateka have undergone thorough preparation for the past few months.
"We hope that Indonesian karateka can deliver their best results and bring glory to the nation in the international arena," Marisi said.
In addition to participating in the world championships, the ASKI contingent will also attend seminars and training sessions with karateka from various countries. This activity is expected to improve the knowledge and skills of Indonesian karateka.
"We hope that this activity can be a means to enhance the brotherhood and cooperation between karateka from various countries," Marisi said.
ASKI is one of the largest karate organizations in Indonesia. The organization has about 11,000 karateka members spread across 32 provinces. ASKI is also a member of the Indonesian Karate-Do Sports Federation (FORKI).
Marisi hopes that this activity can be a momentum to improve the performance of Indonesian karate in the international arena.
