- ANTARA/HO-Kementerian PUPR.
Kalimantan – Indonesia is planning to move its capital from Jakarta in Java to a new city in East Kalimantan, named IKN Nusantara. IKN will show the greatness of the Indonesian nation, reflect national identity, and ensure socio-economic and environmental sustainability.
IKN Nusantara is planned as a smart city that is modern and sustainable with international standards and has many technologies in several sectors.
"This is the city for the future, we are building until 2045," the Head of IKN Nusantara Authority, Bambang Susantono said at the Kempinski Hotel, Central Jakarta, on this week.
So, here's the list of modern facilities to make IKN Nusantara a smart city:
1. MRT and Fast Train
Mass Rapid Transit or MRT and fast trains are likely to be present in IKN Nusantara for public transportation. The Indonesian and South Korean governments have agreed on the cooperation, which goes into the construction of MRT Phase 4 in IKN Nusantara.
This was conveyed by the President Director of MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Tuhiyat. "IKN (MRT) will be for public transportation, whether it will be elevated, underground, or other modes that are transformational, but it will be built," Tuhiyad said at Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park, South Jakarta, on Friday.
2. Flying Taxi
Another modern transportation that will be in IKN Nusantara is, Flying taxi. As the builder, Hyundai Motor Group has signed an agreement with the Indonesian government.
The latest news is that this electric-powered flying taxi is targeted to operate in 22 years at IKN Nusantara.
As reported on Hyundai's official website, the electric taxi prototype that can fly like a large drone is named UAM S-A1. This taxi has 8 rotors with 15-meter-long wings, with a body dimension of 10.7 meters.
3. Undersea Expressway
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Highways stated that the construction of an underwater tunnel also known as an immersed tunnel in IKN will begin next year.
Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Hedy Rahadian said that the detailed technical design (DED) of the undersea toll road which is part of Section 4 of the IKN Government Center Core Area (KIPP) Toll Road will be carried out this year and 2024.
As for the design, the government is cooperating with international consultants or experts.
"We are now making the design because this undersea tunnel is a new thing," Rahadian said in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Saturday.
4. More Modern Defense System
Huawei Indonesia's Director of ICT and Business Strategy, Mohamad Rosidi, explained that Huawei is actively exploring innovative technologies related to smart cities, which can support the digital transformation of the intelligent defense system 5.0.
"The smart defense system is one part of the implementation of a safe city. Huawei has experience in handling more than 700 cities in more than 100 countries and regions," Rosidi said at the National Resilience Seminar 'Smart Defense 5.0 of the National Capital' at Borobudur Hotel last May.
He added: "Therefore, the planning and implementation of smart defense systems can adopt and integrate experiences from other cities in the world,"
The expected smart defense system is the ability to detect threats to national security and defense, with various data between parties, as well as more accurate information processing to support an efficient, fast, and directed decision-making process.
5. Waste Management
The government is working with a Dubai-based company, Alserkal Group - Envirol for waste management at IKN. This is recognized as a form of support in realizing a smart and green city in IKN later.
The waste that will be handled by the company from the United Arab Emirates includes the separation of Fat, Oil, and Grease (FOG) waste or food waste.
Proper disposal of food waste such as waste fat and cooking oil is said to be able to preserve environmental infrastructure in the new capital city.
Member of the Board of Directors of Alserkal Group, Maher Al Kaabi stated that the establishment of FOG waste management standards is important.. Alserkal Group's experience in managing and implementing similar projects with the UAE (United Arab Emirates) government is expected to be applied in Indonesia.
