Sky Taxi Fare as Public Transportation in IKN Nusantara

Kalimantan – Sky taxi or Urban Air Mobility is one of the public transportation in IKN Nusantara. The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) is trying out sky taxis to support IKN as a smart city before the 79th Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2024.
The IKN Authority's Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, Mohammed Ali Berawi, estimates that the sky taxi fare in IKN is around US$50 or IDR 750,000, equivalent to premium taxi fares in Jakarta.
"If I go from my house in South Jakarta to Soekarno-Hatta Airport using Silver Bird's Alphard, it will cost around IDR 600,000. But, if I take a sky taxi, with an estimated distance of up to 100 km, maybe from Soekarno-Hatta to Tangerang or Bekasi, the cost can reach IDR 750,000," Berawi said on Monday.
The sky taxi resembles a battery-powered drone. Its speed reaches 200 kilometers per hour.
This new transportation also has Intelligent Transport System (ITS) technology, so it can take passengers to the helipad with just one application.
"This flying taxi can be an airplane mode that can be used to transport passengers across to outside Kalimantan Island, but with the shortest distance," Berawi explained.
"So if for example from IKN you want to go to Sulawesi or from East Kalimantan you want to go to Palu, the distance is near," he added.
Furthermore, the IKN Authority is collaborating with Hyundai Motor Group to build an advanced air mobility (AAM) ecosystem, including flying taxis and autonomous cars.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) took place on the sidelines of the B20 Summit in Bali.
"This Sky taxi is still in the development stage. Ahead of the trial, the IKN authority must prepare several supporting facilities, such as runways or helipads, and others," he emphasized.
