Minister Guarantees Rempang Island Investment for Residents Welfare

Jakarta – The Indonesian Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed that investment in Rempang Island, Batam, Riau Islands will provide a welfare impact for the residents.
The minister said he would hold weekly meetings with the Governor and the Batam Business Entity to discuss accelerating the area development.
"This is an investment for the welfare of the community. It will create jobs, increase income. For the people that we shift, they will also be given their rights," Minister Lahadalia said on Sunday.
"At this coordination meeting to accelerate the development of environmentally friendly investment in the Rempang Island area, we will discuss revoking the licenses of some people who build businesses or own land in Rempang," the Minister added.
He also said: "This must also require special handling,"
Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia to resolve the problems on Rempang Island.
According to the President, the problem that happened on Rempang Island because of the lack of communication.
