- TechCrunch
Cupertino – Apple officially launches the latest iPhone 15 series consisting of iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This iPhone series was introduced through Apple Event on Wednesday, early in the morning.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. However, Apple says that the maximum brightness can now reach 2000 nits.
Apple has also updated its camera system. The rear camera system of the base model iPhone 15 now includes a 48MP main sensor, the same as last year's iPhone 14 Pro series.
The 48MP sensor allows 1x and 2x optical zoom modes, along with the commonly used 0.5x ultra-wide lens.
Portrait mode has also been improved for iPhone 15. Apple says that its synthetic bokeh portrait shots offer better low-light performance than ever before.
This mode will be activated automatically when shooting a subject in main camera mode. Users can also change the focus after the photo is taken, as Apple maintains a depth map alongside the image data to produce a natural blur.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are powered by the A16 Bionic chip, which was previously seen on the iPhone 14 Pro model. The A16 system-on-a-chip has a six-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. Moreover, there are five color options, such as Pink, yellow, green, blue, and black.
The iPhone 15 has the same battery life as the Plus variant, but the iPhone 15 Plus will last longer thanks to a larger internal battery. Users can now charge the iPhone 15 using the new USB-C port.
iPhone 15 also features with a second-generation Ultra-Wideband chip to improve coverage when locating. Now users can also directly navigate to a person with Precision Finding, not just items tagged with AirTag.
Apple expanded the Emergency SOS by Satellite feature to accommodate roadside assistance situations. In the United States, this feature will be offered to AAA members.
Price for iPhone 15 starts from US$ 799 (around IDR 12,2 million) and iPhone 15 Plus starts from US$899 (around IDR 13,8 million).
Meanwhile, price for iPhone 15 Pro starts from US$ 1.099 (around IDR 16.9 million) and iPhone 15 Pro Max starts from US$1.199 (around IDR 18.4 million).
