Bandung – Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) has awarded 18 recipients the Pancasila Icon and Pancasila Figure Awards of 2023, at the Asia-Africa Conference Building (Merdeka Building) in Bandung.

"These Icons (achievements) and Pancasila Figures are hoped to continue serving as role models and sources of inspiration for all of us to build and cherish Indonesia," said BPIP Head Yudian Wahyudi in official statement, quoted Tuesday 12th September 2023.

Yudian also expressed his hope that these awards would continually uphold the values of Pancasila in the fabric of Indonesian society.

"We all hope that this recognition will serve as a catalyst to accelerate the grounding of Pancasila values in all layers of Indonesian society," he added.

Regarding the choice of Bandung and the Asia-Africa Conference Building as the venue for BPIP activities in 2023, Yudian explained that it was because this location symbolizes the spirit of Pancasila through the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference.

"68 years ago, we celebrated the same spirit as Pancasila. We echoed solidarity through the Asia-Africa Conference," he said.
