Sudan – A civilian plane crashed at Port Airport, Sudan, due to technical failure. In the incident, nine people were confirmed dead, including four military personnel, according to the Sudanese army on Sunday.
"A girl however survived the crash," the Sudanese army said in a statement.
"The Antonov aircraft is known to have suffered damage during take-off before crashing," he added.
As information, Sudan often experiences such plane crashes. In April 2023, two people were also reported dead at Khartoum airport.
The Saudi airline confirmed that one of its planes was involved in the crash after violence broke out last April in the country.
Two planes were damaged at the Sudanese capital's international airport as a conflict between the army and paramilitaries escalated.
Saudia, formerly Saudi Arabian Airlines, issued a statement saying that one of its Airbus A330 jets was involved in an accident at the airport before a flight to Riyadh.
According to a video circulating on social media, smoke was coming out of two planes at the airport. According to data from FlightRadar24, the other aircraft damaged in the accident was a Ukraine-based SkyUp 737, operating on behalf of Sunwing Airlines.
