Jakarta – Indonesia received an additional 8,000 quotas of hajj pilgrims from Saudi Arabia. So, the total number of hajj pilgrims this year reaches 229,000. The addition consists of 7,360 regular pilgrims and 640 special pilgrims.

Regarding the repayment of the Hajj Pilgrimage Cost (BPIH) for the Additional Quota of Regular Hajj Pilgrims Year 1444H/2023M, Director General of Hajj and Umrah Hilman Latief said, until June 12, 2023, 8,800 regular pilgrims had paid.

"The details are 6,294 pilgrims who have paid off or 85.46 percent, with a remaining quota of 1,070 people and 2,506 reserve pilgrims or 34.12 percent with a remaining quota of 4,849 people," Latief said in a press statement at the Hajj Media Center (MCH) Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta.

In addition, he said that the peak of Hajj occurred on June 27, 2023. Several preparations were made by PPIH including informing early on the policy of temporarily stopping the distribution of congregation catering.

He said that traffic conditions that are very congested before and after the peak of Hajj become an obstacle to the distribution of catering.

"On the 7,14, and 15 of Dhul Hijjah, catering services will be temporarily suspended. During this time, pilgrims can buy food and drinks around the hotel. For 8-13 Dhul Hijjah, catering services will be provided 16 times in Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina," he said.
