28 Indonesian Regions Welcoming Recent Dry Season, BMKG Reveals

VIVA – The head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Dwikorita Karnawati stated that Indonesia will welcome the dry season. This is caused by the El Nino and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) phenomena.

"Rainfall in August-October this year is predicted to be below normal because of the El Nino will be 100 percent happen in Indonesia," she said on Tuesday. 

She also said: "Some areas even experience very low rainfall,"

The areas in question are Sumatra, Java-Bali, NTB-NTT, parts of Kalimantan, and several areas in Sulawesi. She added that 28 regions in Indonesia have entered the dry season.

These areas are eastern Aceh, eastern North Sumatra, eastern Riau, southern Bengkulu, southern Lampung, northern Banten, DKI Jakarta, and northern West Java.

Then, there are parts of Central Java, several areas in East Java, parts of Bali, parts of Nusa Tenggara, parts of Gorontalo, parts of Southeast Sulawesi, several areas in the Maluku Islands, and several areas in North Maluku, 

"As many as 28 percent in Indonesia have entered the dry season,"  she informed.
