Thailand Ready to Host the Upcoming 2025 SEA Games

VIVA – The 2023 SEA Games which took place in Cambodia are officially over. And, Thailand is ready to host the upcoming 2025 SEA Games. 

This was marked by the handover of the SEA Games Federation (SEAGF) flag from 2023 SEA Games host Cambodia, to SEA Games Thailand representatives at the closing ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games, at Morodok Techo National Stadium, Phnom Penh, on Wednesday night. 

The flag relay was given by Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) Chairman Tea Banh to Olympic Committee of Thailand (NOCT) President General Prawit Wongsuwan, accompanied by Thailand delegates.

"The Thailand flag has now flown proudly, showing its readiness to host the 33rd SEA Games, in December 2025," said a quote delivered at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games.

The 2025 SEA Games will be held in three major cities in Thailand, namely Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla. Thailand prepares spectacular performances and is ready to provide the best service from the hospitality of its citizens.

In addition, Thailand is also ready to provide a performance that combines traditional art with a modern touch that suits the three cities hosting the upcoming SEA Games." 

Furthermore, the performance with the title "Sawasdee SEA Games" or "Hello, SEA Games" in Thai, shows the joy and hospitality combined with the natural beauty of Thailand.

Before the SEA Games host flag relay took place, the ceremony first began with the SEAGF song sung by 64 Cambodian children. This marks Cambodia's 64-year wait to host the big sporting event in the ASEAN region.

After that, the ceremony continued with singing the Thai national song and closed with a fireworks party from Cambodia.

This will be the seventh SEA Games to be held in Thailand, after an 18-year wait. Bangkok was the main host at the 1959 SEAP Games, 1967 SEAP Games, 1975 SEAP Games, and 1985 SEA Games. Then, Chiang Mai became the main host in 1995, and Nakhon Ratchasima in 2007.
