VIVA – Kertajati Airport has been officially designated as one of the Hajj embarkation and debarkation airports in 2023/1444 Hijri by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi on Sunday visited the airport located in Majalengka Regency, West Java, to ensure the readiness of the infrastructure to serve Hajj flights.

"Once established, there will be around 20 groups or around 7,000 to 8,000 pilgrims from Subang Regency and its surroundings who will depart from Kertajati Airport," Minister Sumadi said after the inspection.

The airport will be supported by the Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan (Cisumdawu) Toll Road which is targeted to start operating in mid-April, the minister added.

"With the operation of the Cisumdawu Toll Road, the travel time from Bandung to Kertajati and vice versa can be reached in approximately one hour. We hope that Kertajati Airport will be more alive, the Cisumdawu Toll Road will be more crowded, and the people around Subang who will go to the airport and vice versa will be more comfortable because the accessibility is easier," he explained.

In addition to the Hajj pilgrimage, Minister Sumadi revealed that several flight slots are still available at the airport to serve Umrah during the Eid 2023 period.

"Some 10 days before Eid, many pilgrims usually want to go to Umrah. At Kertajati Airport, the slots are unlimited, so we can accept whatever it is," he informed.

As information, total of 20 groups or around 7,000-8,000 pilgrims who will depart from Kertajati Airport come from 7 regencies/cities in West Java, namely Cirebon City, Cirebon Regency, Majalengka Regency, Indramayu Regency, Kuningan Regency, Subang Regency, and Sumedang Regency.
