VIVA – The Indonesian President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated four infrastructures to prevent floods and handle traffic congestion in Bandung City, also Bandung District, West Java, on Sunday.

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon, we will inaugurate the four infrastructures Andir Retention Pond, Cieunteung Retention Pond, Cisangkuy Floodway in Bandung Regency, and Kopo Flyover in Bandung City.” The President said at the Andir Retention Pond in Bandung District, West Java, on Sunday.

The President revealed that Andir Retention Pond, Cieunteung Retention Pond, and Cisangkuy Floodway which function as flood control were built with a budget of IDR 142 billion, IDR 204 billion, and IDR 632 billion respectively.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Kopo Flyover, which is expected to be able to unravel congestion and facilitate traffic in Bandung City, has a budget of IDR 288 billion.

“The total that has been built by the central government in Bandung City and Bandung District is IDR 1.26 trillion,” President Jokowi stated.

As information, the Cieunteung Retention Pond has an area of 4.7 hectares and a capacity of 190 thousand cubic meters. This retention pond is equipped with 4 pump units with a total water flow capacity of 12 cubic meters per second.

Furthermore, Andir Retention Pond has an area of 3.4 hectares with a capacity of 160 thousand cubic meters. This retention pond is equipped with 3 pump units with a total water flow capacity of 1.5 cubic meters per second.

Meanwhile, the Cisangkuy Floodway has a length of 5.45 kilometers and can drain flood discharge of 230 cubic meters per second. These three infrastructures are projected to reduce flood inundation in Baleendah and Dayeuhkolot by 81 percent.

Also attending the inauguration were the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing; Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of State Secretary; Pratikno, Deputy Governor of West Java; Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, and Mayor of Bandung; Yana Mulyana.
