Becomes Host, Indonesia Targets to Win the 2023 Asia Rifle/Pistol Cup

VIVA – Indonesia is hosting the 2023 Asia Rifle/Pistol Cup was officially held on March 1-10, 2023, and attended by 107 participants from 12 countries namely Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Philippines, Qatar, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia and competed in 19 numbers.
The opening of this event was conducted by the Indonesian National Army (TNI) Commander, Admiral Yudo Margono at PB Perbakin Headquarters, Senayan, Jakarta accompanied by PB Perbakin Chairman, Joni Supriyanto.
Furthermore, Supriyanto said Indonesia will field 42 of its best shooters at the 2023 Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup. He hopes that with the preparations that have been made, Indonesia can win the overall title this year.
"Yesterday we just held the World Cup and ranked sixth with two gold and four bronze. Our hope in Asia is even better. For this event, we hope to be the overall champion," Supriyanto remarked.
“It was the best achievement of the Indonesian team. Previously Indonesia had never won a medal at the World Championships," he continued.
Furthermore, according to Supriyanto, the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) appointed Indonesia as the organizer because it has international class facilities, "Previously, Indonesia was also appointed by the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) for the World Cup and next year we will host the Paris Olympic quota in February 2024."
Meanwhile, TNI Admiral Yudo Margono hopes that the Asian shooting championship in Indonesia can increase the passion for shooting sports in the country.
"This championship is certainly a place for athletes to hone their skills and make the highest possible achievements in the international arena. I hope this championship can increase the passion for shooting sports on the world stage and is also increasingly in demand by all levels of society," Margono explained.
On the other hand, the President of the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC), Sheikh Salman Al Sabah gave appreciation to Indonesia for being a good host.
"Thank you for the banquet and for organizing the Asian Cup 2023. I hope a good and fair match will run for all participants," Al Sabah remarked.
