VIVA – Technological advances have made many significant developments, one is the use of robots that replace human performance. Not only in factories as machines, but robots are also starting to be in offices and cafes.
Having a waiter robot in a cafe is not a new thing; it's happening around the world. But imagine a cafe with only a robot and no human employees at all. Does it help if they look like real humans or let's say as pretty as supermodels? Maybe.
It is known, Dubai will soon have the world's first supermodel robot cafe where a robot will serve customers and not human employees. Donna Cyber-Cafe is all set to open in 2023 and will be the first cafe in the world to be completely run without the help of humans, as quoted from India Times, on December 23, 2022.
This cafe will be open round the clock, 24 hours, and it will also employ not any robot to serve customers but a supermodel robot. In addition to the supermodel robot, there will be several self-serve ice cream machines and coffee operated by robot arms.
The location of the first Donna Cyber-Cafe is still unknown but it is reported that the country will be building similar cafes soon. The café maker stated that the supermodel robot components were imported from Russia. The beautiful robots are called Robo-C2 and are made by the robotics company RDI Robotics.
The robot's design is inspired by Eastern European model Diana Gabdullina with silicone skin and hyper-realistic eyes that can convey a variety of micro-expressions.
To make the supermodel robot looks perfect, the creators state that the robot is designed in such a way as to have a relaxed and feminine personality. Also, to make it more interesting, the robot is programmed to be a little ironic. Of course, the robots are not just good-looking.
They were created to be able to remember customers and even store information related to the company as well as have conversations, selfies, and tell stories to all visitors in the cafe to keep them engaged.
Robo-C2 also became popular on TikTok as one account showed the robot serving coffee, learning to write, and telling jokes to people. However, some are concerned that the robot could potentially put people out of work.
