VIVA – The Ministry of Industry established the Center for Digital Industry 4.0 (PIDI 4.0) to support the development of the industrial transformation 4.0 ecosystem in Indonesia. One of the efforts made by PIDI 4.0 is to develop industrial human resources who are digitally proficient with various skills training programs for the future.

"In 2018, President Joko Widodo launched the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap as a manifestation of Indonesia's readiness to enter the industrial era 4.0. One of the strategies is the development of PIDI 4.0," said the Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry, Arus Gunawan in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

The Head of BPSDMI said that during 2018-2030, the development of industry 4.0 is predicted to boost Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth by 1-2 percent per year. In addition, there is potential for job creation of more than 10 million by 2030.

"The implementation of industry 4.0 cannot be separated from the expertise of the industrial workforce in its application, therefore the Ministry of Industry continues to encourage the improvement of the quality of industrial human resources, one of which is through reskilling and upskilling," Gunawan stated.

Director of PIDI 4.0 - Head of Industrial HR Training Center BPSDMI Ministry of Industry, Tirta Wisnu Permana said, PIDI 4.0 has five pillars to realize the implementation of industry 4.0 in Indonesia, and Indonesia 4.0 in the world. In 2022, the PIDI 4.0 program in all five pillars has reached its target.

“The first pillar is the Showcase Center. This year PIDI 4.0 is working with Toyota Indonesia to provide a miniature automotive factory showcase, from order customization, design production, to monitoring,” Tirta Wisnu stated.

PIDI 4.0 has also worked with Indolakto on the UHT prototype and ice cream machine. "As a Showcase Center, PIDI 4.0 is open for public visits, both students, industries, and individuals," he added.

For the Capability Center pillar, throughout 2022, PIDI 4.0 has held 52 pieces of training with a total of 1400 participants. The training was held at the PIDI 4.0 building in Jakarta as well as in various cities in Indonesia.

"Training at PIDI 4.0 is presented following the demands of the skills needed in the industrial era 4.0, some of which are mechatronics training, internet of things, data analysis, pneumatic, and many more," said Wisnu.

The training is open to the industrial workforce in general, and there are several pieces of training specifically for the State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

In the Ecosystem pillar, PIDI 4.0 has collaborated nationally and globally to create an industrial ecosystem 4.0 in Indonesia.  "From the target of 24 partners, PIDI 4.0 has exceeded the target and now has 35 partners, such as AWS (Amazon), Schneider Electric, Ericsson, Telkomsel, UGM, Diponegoro University, and others," Wisnu explained.

Meanwhile, in the Delivery Center pillar, PIDI 4.0 has assisted industries in seven priority sectors to increase awareness, through workshops in the field of industrial assessment 4.0.

"For the Engineer & Artificial Intelligence (AI) pillar, PIDI 4.0 has conducted awareness of testbed (prototyping) facilities for pre-piloting solutions, testing, and deployment of industry 4.0. PIDI 4.0 is also developing machine learning-based applications, such as AI for online training, PIDI 4.0 e-commerce, and chatbots," Wisnu continued.

All of these activities are carried out to support the function of PIDI 4.0 as a one-stop solution for accelerating industrial transformation 4.0 in Indonesia.
