VIVA – The construction of the Tourism Thematic People's Market in Ubud, Bali continues to be socialized to people. The Ubud traditional market became a pilot project for the construction of tourism market in Indonesia. Sub Coordinator of the Plans and Programs Bureau of the Ministry of Trade, Anggie Tri Utami explained that the tourism ecosystem in Gianyar is very supportive of the existence of tourist market.

"Apart from visitors being able to experience buying and selling transactions, visitors can also experience tourism," Anggi said in the socialization of thematic market development, Friday, December 16, 2022.

The revitalized Ubud market is also predicted to become a hub for the export of handicrafts and culinary products in Bali. Anggi Tri Utami said that the revitalization of Ubud market is carried out to revive the economy that decreased by pandemic.

"The potential of the Ubud Market is very important for the ecosystem. Because it supplies the needs of hotels and restaurants around this market area. I hope that the products offered by the traders are premium class so that they can be exported and attract foreign market share," Anggi Tri Utami stated.

Several things need to be considered, starting from the process of making hygienic, environmentally friendly products, and attractive packaging, to Ubud branding.  "So, the materials used to use local materials with global aspects," said Anggi.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Province Industry and Trade Agency Wayan Jarta through the Head of Domestic Trade, I Nyoman Tangkas Sugiharta said that this thematic market is expected to be able to support the strengthening of priority tourist destinations and market centers in Bali. 

"Well, we were appointed by the center to revitalize the Ubud Market to make it better and more comfortable without having to eliminate its characteristics to support the Kerthi Bali Economy," said Nyoman Tangkas.

According to him, this market is not only visited by the public but also by foreign tourists, so revitalization is carried out to make it cleaner, more comfortable, safer, and worthy of tourists.

"The goal is to provide visitors with better service," he added.

Furthermore, I Nyoman said that the revitalization of this market will be encouraged to become a SNI market. "We have facilitated a market in Bali that has SNI, namely Blahkiuh Market, Badung Regency. The certificate has been issued with a type C market. The goal is how the market services, cleanliness is better and can be maintained,"
