VIVA – In G20 Official Vehicle Handover Ceremony event at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on October 19, 2022, PT Toyota Astra Motor officially handed over 143 units of electrified vehicles with Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) technology consisting of 41 units of Toyota BZ4X and 102 units of Lexus UX 300e to the Ministry of State Secretary.
The handover of more than a hundred of electric cars will be used to support the mobility of participants at the G20 Summit which will be held in Bali on November 15 to 16.
"We really appreciate the government's trust in Toyota products that were chosen as the official vehicles for the G20 Summit. Not only supporting the smooth mobility of conference participants, the presence of the Toyota BZ4X and Lexus UX 300e is expected to be a symbol of Indonesia's commitment to reducing carbon emissions towards the era of Carbon Neutrality in 2060," Vice President Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Henry Tanoto stated on November 19, 2022.
The Toyota BZ4X is the first BEV electrified vehicle from Toyota which is officially marketed globally in mid-2022. Its use at the G20 Summit is after a strong request from the Indonesian government and a global supply reorganization with the principal of Toyota Motor Corporation.
Meanwhile, the Lexus UX 300e is an electrified vehicle with premium Battery EV technology, a subcompact SUV type that was first marketed in 2020. As a premium brand, the presence of the Lexus model in Bali will also be supported by e-LCMS (Electric Lexus Mobile Concierge Service) facilities to further provide convenience and smooth mobility for summit participants.
General Manager of Lexus, Bansar Maduma, said that at the G20 Summit later, Lexus will also provide car charging, The Future is Electrified (Lexus Mobile Charging) that has the purpose to support if something happens on the way during the G20 Summit.
“This mobile charging is our new facility to support if something happens on the road. We only provide one unit for the G20, and this charging car is not a generator, but like a power bank for this electric car,” Bansar Maduma remarked in Handover Ceremony event at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
Bansar Maduma also explained the advantages of this mobile charging. This charging car is the first in Indonesia. This car can also charge 55 percent of the vehicle battery.
Also, there are two features presented by this car power bank, namely fast charging, one minute for two kilometers. Then, normal charging, for one minute one kilometer.
As a mobility company, Toyota Astra Motor is fully committed to supporting the Indonesian government in achieving its Carbon Neutrality target by 2060.
In line with the government's policy of encouraging the acceleration of electric motorized vehicles through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) no. 55 of 2019, Toyota through various innovations and popularization programs continues to encourage the increasing use of electrification-based vehicles in the community, including preparing the first electrified vehicle with Hybrid EV technology that’s produced locally in the country.
"In the future, environmentally friendly vehicles will be one of the concrete steps to reduce carbon emissions. The government's steps to issue Presidential Decree No. 55 of 2019 is very strategic for Indonesia in facing the challenges of future mobility which must be in line with the principles of being environmentally friendly or zero emission,” Henry Tanoto remarked.
