The incident of November 10, 1945 was one of the most heroic incidents, namely the tearing of the Dutch flag above the Oranje Hotel. This story was triggered by the news that at the Oranje Hotel in Tunjungan the red-white-blue Dutch flag had been flown by Mr. ploegman.

In the end, Mr. Ploegman is killed by a young man who approaches him unknowingly and thrusts his knife repeatedly. At that time Mr. Ploegman confronted the crowd in front of the hotel demanding the lowering of the tricolor flag.

Several youths carried the stairs to climb to the roof of the hotel. From the roof someone climbed onto the flagpole in a thunderous scream, then the blue part of the flag was torn off, and now 'The Red and White' fluttered in the sky. Until now, the flag tearer was never known to exist.
